These stools are the result of an iterative assignment I set for myself. Each one uses the wedged through-tenon joint, a core element in several of the classes I teach. I wanted to push my stool-making abilities and challenge my tendency to over-plan, so I decided to create a rainbow in stool form. I rarely knew what the final shape would be when I began; the color simply followed the order in which I made them; red first, then orange, and so on.
